The advantage of this aluminium coating is that it is a vapour barrier, while being heat resistant and keeping the flavours intact. Compared to plain aluminium, metallized PET protects foodstuffs from dangerous aluminium emissions during contact with edibles when they are too salty or acidic, as is the case with grilled foods.
